1990-2000 Census for Bountiful, Utah

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I happen to be looking at the census from 1990-2000 and thought these facts were interesting. Our next big census will be taking place in 2001, so it will be nice to see how we have changed.

Population – State of Utah

The State of Utah gained 510,319 people in those ten years. The figure doesn’t really mean that much. What matters is the growth compared to the rest of the nation. The US population grew by 13.2 percent. Of the fifty States, Utah was the fourth largest with a growth rate of 29.6 percent. Yes, over double the national average. The three states that beat Utah were Nevada with 66.3 percent, Arizona with 40.o percent and Colorado with 30.6 percent.

Population – Counties in Utah

This is quite an impressive list! Of the 29 counties only 4 counties in Utah were below average in population growth. Not one county lost population. The leader was Summit County. From 1990-2000 Summit County, Utah almost doubled their population! Thats growth! They had a growth rate of 91.6 percent. The four counties that underperformed were Piute, Millard, Emery and Carbon. I’m sure your wondering about Davis County, Utah.  The growth rate for this county was 27.2 percent. Population 1990: 187,941, Population 2000:238,994. Thirteenth best growth of the 29 counties.

Population – Larger Cities in Utah

The larger cities in Utah all did good. Salt Lake City had a growth rate of 13.6 percent. This is about average. West Valley City had a growth rate of 25.2 percent and Provo City had a growth rate of 21.1 percent.

I’ll be looking for more population figures that relate to Bountiful, Utah and post them when I find them. Lets hope I remember this post so I can compare the figures when they are published for 2010.
